About us The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SU) is one of the largest in the Nordic region. We provide emergency and scheduled outpatient care, and have close collaboration with other departments including upper and lower GI surgery, and transplantation surgery. The department is organized into teams focusing on hepatologic outpatient care, gastroenterologic outpatient care, endoscopy, intestinal failure unit, and an inpatient ward. The department is actively involved in ongoing research across several fields and has a strong emphasis on education, continuing professional development, and the ongoing advancement of clinical services. As a Specialist Physician/Senior Consultant at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatolgy at Sahlgrenska university Hospital, you will have excellent opportunities for professional development and research. You will work within our subspecialty teams alongside ambitious and friendly colleagues, with close collaboration with the transplantation unit. The department has a high patient volume, providing extensive opportunities for both clinical practice and research. Our goal is to provide the highest possible standard of care for our patients. About the Role You will work with the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients requiring specialized care in hepatology in both emergency and elective settings. Your duties will include working in the outpatient clinic, inpatient ward, and at the liver transplant unit, as well as participation during office hours and on-call duties. Teaching and supervising less experienced colleagues, medical students, and healthcare professionals is an integral part of the role. You will also be expected to take an active part in the department’s quality improvement, development, and change initiatives, as well as in research activities. About You We are looking for a board-certified senior consultant in Gastroenterology and Hepatology with a high level of expertise in hepatology. You should be interested in both your own professional development and contributing to the advancement of care at one of the largest university hospitals in the Nordic region. You work well within a team and have a strong interest in liver disease. We value strong communication and collaboration skills. You are able to apply newly acquired knowledge in your clinical practice, make sound clinical judgments, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. We are seeking a motivated and independent individual with the ability and interest to take overall responsibility and place the patient's needs at the center of care. Ongoing research activities and/or a doctoral degree (PhD) are considered meritorious. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
