About this job

Senior Frontend Engineer - 900k - 1.2M NOK Flowcase is a product people spend their working day in. Consultants maintain their CVs in it, bid teams build proposals in it, and managers use it to find the right people for the right job. That puts a lot of weight on the frontend: it has to be fast, accessible, work in six languages, and make complicated data feel simple. Most of our engineers are full-stack and do frontend work as needed. What we're looking for is someone who cares about the frontend: the craft of building UI, good UX, the design system behind it, and the shared libraries and tooling that make everyone else's frontend work easier. You'd be joining our core product team, shipping features alongside full-stack engineers and product designers. We're looking for someone who is as interested in the product as in the code: someone who can take a problem without a sketch and build a good solution, and who also enjoys working with designers to arrive at something better than either would have come up with alone. You'll make changes across the whole codebase from early on, and you'll have a real say in where the product goes. AI, and how we work Our product has AI features our customers rely on, from rephrasing and translating text to AI-driven bid proposals that match requirements to the right candidates, and we're prototyping more. You'd be building the interfaces for these. That means understanding the problem each feature solves well enough to decide how it should look and behave. Internally, developers use coding agents to write code, with rigorous human review and humans setting the design direction. You need to know what good output looks like and hold it to that standard, whether you typed it or an agent did. Our stack React and TypeScript, on the latest versions, with React Compiler adopted React Query for data fetching Vanilla Extract for styling A design system built on React Aria Components, implemented from our Figma design system and documented in Storybook Unit and integration testing, and strict static analysis A monorepo for all frontend code i18n across several languages A product that's been around since 2012 has history, and not all of the frontend is as modern as the stack above. Migrating the older parts is part of the job. If you enjoy modernising a codebase incrementally, without a big-bang rewrite, you'll find plenty of that work here. What You'll Do Build features across the product end to end on the frontend, from interpreting a problem to shipping and iterating on it. Work with product designers on solutions, and when design capacity is stretched, come up with good solutions yourself that designers can refine. Build and extend reusable, accessible components in our design system, and help keep code and Figma in sync. Build accessibility and internationalisation in from the start. Find and fix performance problems: use your intuition for what makes a web app slow, and confirm the cause with profiling tools before you optimise. Design and discuss the APIs your features need together with backend engineers, and build them yourself if needed. Improve the frontend platform (shared libraries, linting, tooling, testing) when you see something worth fixing. You'll need solid experience building production web apps with TypeScript and React, or a comparable framework and a willingness to learn React quickly. You'll also need a good understanding of accessibility. About You You enjoy building things people use. You notice when an interaction feels off, when a layout breaks in Finnish, or when a screen reader gets lost, and you want to fix it. You keep up with what's happening in the frontend world and like trying new things. User-facing surfaces are React, and that's a settled choice, but within React little is set in stone. We moved to React Compiler, we're happy with React Query, and if something better comes along we want someone who'll notice and make the case for it. We also have internal back-office surfaces where there's more room to experiment with other tech. You care about consistency. A codebase many people work in stays healthy when everyone pulls in the same direction, so you'd rather make the case for a change and get it adopted across the board. You'll push back when you disagree, and once a decision is made, you'll build on it. You share what you know, and when something breaks, you're more interested in how it failed than in who's to blame. It would be great if you also have Experience with internationalisation and localised UIs. Experience building UX for AI-powered features. Experience with data visualisation. Experience with React Aria, Vanilla Extract, React Query or Storybook. Experience with frontend tooling, monorepos, or contributing to shared libraries used by other teams. What You Will Get 900k - 1.2M NOK salary, depending on experience Pension (7% up to 7.1G, 8% above), health and travel insurance Offices in central Oslo, with lunch included; two days a wee
