Project Description This master’s project investigates the long-term behaviour of polymer components subjected to highly localized contact pressures. The main objective is to develop finite element models that describe creep, stress relaxation, and deformation in critical contact zones using suitable viscoelastic or viscoplastic material models. Material characterization and contact experiments will provide data for model calibration and validation, including the effects of pressure, loading time, and pressure-dependent friction. Detailed simulations will be used to quantify changes in local stresses, strains, contact areas, and contact forces over time and to assess their influence on product performance during prolonged loading and shelf life.…
