Project Description Medical adhesives play a critical role in ostomy products, where user comfort and secure attachment depend on a complex interaction between bulk adhesive deformation and interfacial failure. This project aims to develop a deeper mechanical understanding of adhesive behavior through advanced experimental testing under mixed-mode loading conditions (Mode I and Mode II), extending beyond conventional bulk material characterization. Novel test methods will be used to measure cohesive traction-separation relationships directly, enabling extraction of material parameters that can be implemented in numerical simulations. In this way, the current study leans on experience gained from previous investigation and existing specimen designs.…
