Working in a collaborative, innovative, and fast-paced environment, you will play a key role in shaping the future of electrification and contributing to Volvo Cars' journey towards sustainable mobility. What you'll do As a Quality Engineer within Battery Cell Design, you will play a key role in ensuring quality throughout the battery cell development lifecycle. Working closely with suppliers, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders, you will drive quality excellence from concept to production, solving complex technical challenges and enabling continuous improvement across products and processes.In this role, you will: Lead and facilitate FMEA activities for both supplier-developed and in-house battery cell products. Drive root cause analyses and problem-solving using structured methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, and other advanced quality tools. Define, implement, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions, ensuring effective knowledge sharing and lessons learned across projects. Collaborate closely with suppliers, design engineers, manufacturing teams, software diagnostics, field quality, and Supplier Quality Management to drive quality improvements and resolve complex issues. Translate quality requirements into robust verification, validation, and analysis plans, ensuring products meet performance, safety, and reliability targets. Leverage data analytics and quality metrics to monitor performance, identify trends, assess risks, and drive fact-based decision-making. Contribute to the development and implementation of new quality methods, tools, and ways of working, helping Volvo Cars remain at the forefront of battery technology and quality engineering. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you bring: An MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in Quality Engineering, preferably within the automotive industry, battery development, or at a battery cell supplier. Strong knowledge of quality and continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8D, SPC, APQP, and PPAP. Hands-on experience with FMEA, root cause analysis, risk assessment, and quality improvement processes. Experience analyzing complex technical data and translating insights into effective actions and sustainable improvements.
