This interdisciplinary PhD project will combine the fields of nanofabrication, material science and device technology to explore methods to process the emerging, ultra-efficient and high-bandwidth electro-optical material barium titanate (BTO) to fabricate light modulators of high relevance for photonic quantum computing and adjacent applications. Processing of BTO films into ultra-low loss integrated optical devices is challenging but crucial for the next generation of quantum device fabrication techniques and has great commercial interest. The skills and experience acquired during the scholarship will make you highly valuable for the semiconductor industry, and especially in the rapidly growing field of quantum technologies and data communication.…
